Bajaj is currently planning to introduce a new low cost bike called “Steel”. Bajaj will make a dent and oppose the Hero Honda’s 100cc segment customers on releasing this model. Bajaj earlier tried with the XCD platform but failed to do that. The company is being produced by Bajaj in association with Chinese makers to keep the price low. Bajaj might brand this low cost bike under a separate brand.

From the pictures seen, Bajaj low cost bike Steel (rumoured) is seen to be an old fashioned bike which is an out-dated Boxer styling with round headlamps and round rear view mirrors. The flat tank with no alcove and flat seats are likely of Chinese make. We have seen it first in the Xenitis 125cc Xpression now Bajaj seems to lead the same way.

The new Bajaj low cost bike Steel will be equipped atleast with telescopic forks at the front and spring suspension at the rear. The bike (Steel) is expected to be price around Rs.25000.

The company will target the rural markets where relatively has lesser reach. We need to see whether Bajaj will make their sales number to reach its higher spots. We will wait for the release and the time will automatically tell us.
