Tata Motors launched the Tata Nano after a long press conference in Mumbai today. Tata Motors marketing team has given the Nano - ‘now within reach’ tag.

Ratan Tata has said the 1 Lakh price is stand alone only for the first 1 Lakh Nano’s. Nano will start to roll out to the Indian roads beginning by July 2009.

Tata Nano bookings will begin on April 09th and will be open till April 23rd. There will be no price revision for bookings happening between April 09th and April 23rd.

Tata Nano can be bought at 30000 booking centres across India, covering 1000 cities in India. Tata Nano can be booked at minimum down payments of Rs 2999 only. The first one Lakh applicants would be allotted the cars randomly and they would not be given any interest on their booking money. However, Tata Motors would pay 8.5 per cent interest to applicants who don’t feature among the first one Lakh buyers.

As we said earlier, Nano will come in three variants and contrary to speculations Tata promises the base model will form 50% of total production. The three variants of Tata Nano are Nano Base, Nano CX and Nano LX will feature with six colours - racing red, ivory white, summer blue, sunshine yellow, champagne gold and lunar silver.

Tata Nano comes in Standard and CX variants which will complies BSII norms and BSIII norm and Nano LX version will comes with BSIII norms complaint.

• Tata Nano Base will feature the following colours - Racing Red, Ivory White and Summer Blue.
• Tata Nano CX will feature the following colours - Racing Red, Ivory White, Summer Blue, Champagne Gold and Lunar Silver
• Tata Nano LX will feature the following colours - Sunshine Yellow, Champagne Gold and Lunar Silver.

Tata claims that Nano Petrol variant will give you a mileage of 23.6 KMPL as tested by ARAI. Tata Nano can be booked online and payment can be made through the net banking.

Tata Nano rolls out with an 18 months or 24000 Kms warranty whichever is earlier. Tata Nano can reach 60kmph in 8 seconds and the top speed electronically limited to 105 Kmph.

Tata has rolled out with the goodies like Tata Nano phone, Watches, t-shirts available at Nano website and Westside and Chroma outlets. Body kits and car audio are also available. A free online game in Nano portal and a Nano mobile game with tata-Indicom mobiles is to raise to the euphoria further. Tata Nano comes with a 15-Litre Fuel Tank.

Nano comes with an impressive turning circle diameter of 8.0-metres and 180mm ground clearance. Tailor made for terrible Indian roads and tight traffic.

Tata Nano is priced Rs 1 Lakh (Pantnagar) includes transportation cost to the showroom, road tax, insurance and other charges are extra.
