Porsche India - luxury carmaker is currently targeting 20 percent sales growth in India for the year 2009. Due to global economic slowdown, the company is really not doing well on its sales part.
“Porsche is still in its infancy in India, but still demand for our cars has been increasing constantly. We are targeting to sell 200 units in 2009,” Porsche importer Precision Cars India managing director Rod Wallace said.
“Automobile sales have been stalled globally due to economic slowdown… Porsche will cut its production as it is expecting its sales to be around 80,000 units this year compared to 98,000 units in 2008,” Wallace added.
Porsche, the German luxury carmaker has introduced the diesel variant of its sports utility vehicle Cayenne in India priced at Rs 64.95 Lakh (on-road) powered with a 3.0-Litre turbo engine.
Speaking about its sales, Wallace marked that “We have brought 19 units of Cayenne Diesel for India, of which three have already been sold”.
