Tata Indica EV At SAE World Congress In Detroit

Tata Motors has recently displayed its Indica EV car at the SAE World Congress in Detroit with it Lithium-ion battery-powered version to be launched in Norway by early-2010. The company has displayed at this moment with its pre-production prototype car.
TM4, a subsidiary of Hydro Québec, will be providing the permanent magnet motor and inverter for the electric Indica. According to TM4, Tata Motors wants to make a name for itself as an electric car manufacturer, in the European market. After launching the Indica EV in Norway, Tata Motors plans to launch this vehicle elsewhere in Europe - perhaps by 2011 - and then also in the US.
The Car which generates 160HP of power and 170Nm of torque from its all-electric powerplant, The Indica EV is likely to be offer with sufficient power and performance for European and North American markets.
The car will come out with a price tag of Rs 10 Lakh and above (according to some estimates), the car is not likely to come to India anytime soon.
