Skoda has entered the Indian market by 2001 and it showcased in the past 8 years the sales of Skoda have been multiplying significantly.
Skoda has revealed its niche market for itself with its “built like tank” cars. The Octavia brand was perceived in India very well and still set a benchmark for luxury in its segment. The launch of Skoda Fabia has also changed the way people think about the small cars. Skoda proved that luxury cannot be compromised in a small car, thanks to the luxurious Skoda Fabia.
Seeing the success of its subsidiary, the Parent company Volkswagen (VW) has also jumped into the Indian operation. The setting up of a massive plant in Chakan near Pune with production capacity of over 1.10,000 cars a year is a good example.
“We are going to launch a small family car in 2011. Then we will research its capability for setting into other markets worldwide, including India.” – Mr Reinhard Jung.
