Volkswagen has currently released a new online virtual racing game in order to promote the 2010 Golf GTI’s UK launch scheduled for May 22.
The game is available at GTIProject.com; the game is built around the Scalextric racing tracking that many of us played with as kids (and as adults).
After the long promotional video, players are invited to drive a 1:43 scale Golf GTI around a 30ft by 25ft track that is surrounded by more than 200 scale buildings which were built by a team of 60 modellers. Players who post the best times will appear on the leader board and potentially be entered in a drawing for the chance to win a three-month lease on a real Golf GTI.
The new GTI comes equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI engine that produces 210 PS and 280 Nm of torque. This allows the hot hatch to run from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 149 mph.
