As we said earlier, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has recently added that the company would bring the Land Cruiser SUV in India to fulfil its customers’ needs in every possible way. The Company will launch the Land Cruiser SUV its diesel version as a CBU and it will import to the Indian car market.

Even though the company has not made any official announcement, unofficial reports claim that TKM is eyeing to powering the model with a 3.0 L diesel engine and would be shipped in from its plant in Japan, and would be priced in the range Rs. 40 Lakh- 50 Lakh (including the 100 per cent import duty). Once launched, it would be pitted against the likes of BMW X5 and Volkswagen Touareg.

According to a senior representative of TKM, the company has already begun a feasibility study on this segment and would be chalking out robust strategies to make its prices competitive. Toyota is also looking at launching Fortuner sports-utility vehicle (SUV) into the Indian market sometime later this year. The SUV will be brought in through the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route. Furthermore, it will also launch an all-new strategic small car platform for India and other emerging markets and would also utilise Indian talent for product development.
