Mahindra & Mahindra is currently on a phase to set up a two wheeler plant for which it was looking at various states, including tax-free states like Uttarkhand and Himachal Pradesh where rivals Hero Honda, Bajaj and TVS are already present.
“Currently we have a capacity of 5 lakh units at Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh) that we got with the acquisition of assets of Kinetic. As volumes grow, we will be looking at expansion for which we are evaluating various locations,” Anoop Mathur, president of Mahindra’s two-wheeler vertical, where the company unveiled two new 125cc gearless scooters ‘Rodeo’ and ‘Duro’ sans the Kinetic brand name.
Anoop Mathur said that “We are not ruling them out. The strong fiscal benefits that they offer are an advantage.” asked whether states likes Uttarkhand and Himachal Pradesh figured in list of possible location.
