• Audi India records 69% growth over the corresponding period last year
• Vehicle sales in August 2009: 171 cars

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued its impressive sales growth in India recording sale of 171 cars in August 2009; a growth of 69 % growth as compared to 101 cars in August 2008.

The upward growth continued in the month of August 2009 and has been strengthened by new launches – the Audi Q5, the new Audi A6 and the introduction of three new engine offerings to the Audi A4. Audi India achieved a remarkable growth in the first eight months of 2009 by selling 1128 cars- already surpassing last year’s annual sales of 1050 cars, a 62% growth compared to the same period in 2008. The second half of 2009 continues to record impressive sales for the company.

Commenting on the strong performance, Mr. Benoit Tiers, Managing Director, Audi India, said, “Audi India continues its impressive sales growth in the second half of 2009 with an excellent sales growth of 69 % over the same month last year. The second half of 2009 has begun on a very positive note. Audi India has strengthened its footprint through a dealer appointment in Kolkata and will soon be introducing the new Audi Q7 in the country. The first half of 2009 was remarkable both in terms of sales and launching new products- launch of Audi Q5, new Audi A6 and three new engines of the Audi A4.”

”We are continuing to gain wider acceptance across markets in India and will keep offering customers products that are progressive, sporty and sophisticated - reflecting the core essence of our brand DNA ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’”, he added.

The entire Audi model range, comprising the newly launched, Audi Q5 and the new Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi Q7, the Audi A4, the Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8, is available at 12 dealerships across the country: in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Kochi.
