Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the existing models with the new generation engines that includes the Alto and Wagon R model for India. The new generation engine has to be in place before April 2010 deadline for stricter Bharat IV emission compliant norm.
Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the existing F-series engine for both Alto and Wagon-R models and replace them with its new K-series engine with the new emission norm.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) spokesperson said, “the successful K series engines will be mounted on more models in a phased manner,” without specifying details and time line for the change in engines.
Maruti Suzuki is also planning to upgrade the engines for the Swift and Swift Dzire models which is currently on the cards and the M800 will not be upgraded with the new emission norms.
