The Suzuki Alto also known as A-Star in India has completed a marathon run across New Zealand last month that recorded a mileage figure of 25 Km/l overall, and 50km/l in city traffic, making it the most fuel-efficient vehicle among all of those that took part in the marathon.
The Global Green Challenge marathon run started from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia. The winner of the challenge was the vehicle judged to have recorded its official fuel consumption figure.
The Suzuki Alto won the “Light” and “Small” car categories, “Best urban cycle” category and recorded overall CO2 emissions of 89.9/km, using just 123 litre of fuel for the seven-day trip.
The small Alto car was equipped with a 1.0-litre petrol engine that used a simple combination of lightweight design, aerodynamic efficiency and managed to outran similar size diesel cars, including the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic Turbo Diesel and MINI Cooper D, which are widely considered to be some of the most fuel efficient cars in the segment.
