General Motors Company, one of the world’s largest automakers is all set to hit 1-lakh margin in Indian market by 2010. The company has planned to launch the Beat, a mini car by 2010. The car sales in the potential Indian market are good for General Motors as it aims to reach the 1-lakh mark by 2010.
The company is to launch Beat (small car) at Rs 4lakh by next year. GM has sold nearly 70,000 units this year and they expect to increase the sales by 40% after the launch of Beat in 2010.
The automobile giant has a very high expectation on this car as it has already decided to perform its production in two different shifts. At present the cars at the Talegaon plant is operating in a single shift, which has a production capacity of 1.4-lakh per year.
At present in India GM assembles Optra Magnum, Aveo, SRV, Aveo U-VA, Spark, Tavera and Captiva at Talegaon and Halol with a combined capacity of 2.25 lakhs units.
