Volkswagen Beetle To Be Launched In India On 4th December 2009

As we already reported earlier, Volkswagen India is currently making itself ready to launch the Beetle model in India on 4th of this December.
Volkswagen will get its Beetle hatch as a CBU and it will carry a hefty import duty. The Beetle will be priced from Rs 20 lakh onwards based upon the variants (not clearly known).
Volkswagen has opened bookings for Beetle and you have to pay an initial deposit of Rs. 2 lakhs and it will cater the following specifications:

- 172Nm @ 3200 rpm
- 6 speed Automatic Tiptronic

Volkswagen India, President and MD, Joerg Mueller said, “We are going to launch new cars models like Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Polo in Indian auto market to make our presence in the market more strong, besides providing technologically advanced new cars for Indian customers. Our factory in Pune is ready for the start of production of Volkswagen Polo, which will be launched during the upcoming Auto Expo 2010.”
“It is an iconic brand and people know more about the car than Volkswagen. It will be brought to Indian as a completely built unit,” Volkswagen India (Passenger car) Board of Directors, Member Neeraj Garg.
Volkswagen Beetle will be pitted against the Fiat 500. Let watch the small and bold fight soon.
