TVS 200cc Under Plans For India?

TVS Motors plans to launch a new 200cc motorcycle in the near future. Will it before 2010?
As we already know Bajaj, Hero Honda and Honda Motorcycle already present in this small 200+cc segment in India.
TVS to launch the new bike in the 200+cc segment to increase the presence and this will tell the world that they are ready for anything to face the competition.
In India, the numbers at the 200+cc segment has sales volumes at 4000 units monthly.
H S Goindi, president (marketing), TVS Motor, said, “Though it’s a small volumes segment, we will definitely be in it. However, the volumes will come from the 100-110cc segment only.”
TVS Motor might also go for international tie-ups for its ambitious 200+cc segment entry, like Bajaj having a tie up with Kawasaki. “We are open to international tie-ups… we can never say never,” said Goindi.
TVS Motor recently re-launched its exiting Flame DS 125 with its twin spark technology will soon boost the company’s sales in the 125cc segment. The company hopes to do sales of around 8000 units per month for the Flame motorcycle by 2010.
TVS launched the Jive 110cc in India last week that is shares the Star platform and the company is hoping to get a 10% market share in the next 5 to 6 months including the TVS Flame model.
TVS Motors also launched its Wego gearless Scooter model on Wednesday.
TVS Motor currently exports its motorcycles to countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Africa and Latin America, while it is also looking at markets in Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt.
For April-October 2009, TVS sold 8.7lakh motorcycles, which is a 6.7% increase from the corresponding period last year.
