As we reported earlier, Volkswagen Beetle received 160 units of booking before launch due to the overwhelm response from the Indian customers, the company claims that it is currently planning to sell 300 units of Beetle in the year 2010.
Volkswagen has received over 170 units of the advance bookings that launched earlier this month.
“We think there is no competition for Beetle in the lifestyle segment. People readily recognise the car. Beetle will play a big role in building Volkswagen brand in India,” said Neeraj Garg, member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Car.
“There are already over 170 advance bookings across India, and we have started delivering the cars as well. Going by the initial euphoria, we expect to sell around 300 Beetles in 2010,” said Raj Sawant, a Volkswagen dealer based in Ahmedabad.
“We are now getting shipments of 40 cars in a batch. One batch has already landed while the second one is expected soon,” he added.
