Mahindra & Mahindra is currently planning to build a new MPV based on the platform of its small truck, Maxximo. Mahindra is currently testing the vehicle at the Mahindra Research Valley which was recently inaugurated in Chennai though the vehicle hasn’t out with any details from the manufacturer about the said launch date in India.
The company is looking keenly developing an MPV based on the Maxximo platform which needs a lot of changes including power and transmission.
Mahindra Maxximo is the most advanced mini truck offered from its stable launched in India and the portfolio including a mini truck and minivan. The company which is working to bring out a passenger van based on the same platform and it is likely to be launched in India by this financial year.
Other manufacturers are entering the MPV segment as it have witnessed a growth of around 20% and it is the fastest growing segment in the country at the moment. Few Manufacturers are offering an MPV from their stable along with the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Apart from these, the company including General Motors and Nissan-Ashok Leyland JV is likely to roll out their Enjoy MPV and the Evalia MPV soon in India by end of 2012.
