The owners of Harley Davidson marked another benchmark when they came together all across the world to make a milestone of covering 13 million km in 48 hours from June 23 to June 24. It was a new glory attached to the name of Harley Davidson when the Harley Owners Group members travelled across the globe to celebrate the brotherhood spirit.
Starting from the western coast to the Rajasthani deserts, from the highway of Jaipur to the Yamuna Expressway, the members of HOG together rode across India on this occasion. They covered a complete distance of 500,000 km.
Saurin Shah and Ricken Desai, two members of the HOG team have made amendments in the riding rules while taking the machine to an altogether different level. Ahmedabad based Saurin made headlines by travelling 1500 kms in just 48 hours and marked his authority on the Mile Muncher Award. The global journey started from Kanha National Park in the pre-monsoon time.
Saurin further explains that the idea of being a part of a global event was truly surreal and cannot be expressed in words. It was an out of the world experience to ride with other members of the HOG. One can only appreciate the true spirit of riding while he is riding in a group. It generates the feeling of brotherhood and camaraderie which develops in the riders and keeps getting stronger with every passing mile.
Talking about the experience of Mr. Ricken Desai of Hyderabad, he rode an astonishing 6000 kms together with his fellow mates of HOG. They decided to continue with their journey and add a few more kilometers in 2013. Marking his own benchmark on the achievements of a true rider, Ricken explains that a true HOG rider ride aggressively and fast when the sun sets. For him it is the journey and not the destination that really matters. According to him, they saddled the bike not to avoid the concrete jungles but to discover the undiscovered areas and live life on the roads for as long as they want.
Established in the year 2008, the Million Mile Monday is a part of the annual event occurring on the last Mondays of every June. On this day, thousands of Harley Davidson riders gather together to share and celebrate their bike riding experience. In the year 2012, the Million Mile Monday was increased to a two–day world ride for Sunday and Monday in the June’s last week. This gave a big opportunity for the riders to participate in the riding event and experience the magic of riding together all across the world.
Whether the ride is across town or nations, every mile was recorded by the Harley Davidson’s mileage accumulator online at the website of Harley. The event encompasses the true spirit of brotherhood, companionship and more. Local HOG events are also conducted regularly for members to experience the adventure, excitement and independence on the open roads. The year 2014 is expected to be bigger and better in terms of participation and enthusiasm.
