TVS has just launched the updated edition of the Wego in the form of a 2014 edition which it showcased at the Auto Expo 2014 earlier this year. The TVS Wego in its 2014 guise has been given a cosmetic upgrade alongside a slight mechanical change too. The TVS Wego in its updated guise has been priced at Rs 48,857 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the regular drum brake variant and at Rs 49,580 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the disc brake variant.
Let us start by talking about the mechanical upgrade first as this is the one which is going to matter the most. The 110cc motor from the Jupiter mated to a CVT-i transmission finds its way on to the 2014 Wego. The motor has slightly new engine parts, has a remapped ignition for taking care of your cold morning starts and a better compression ratio too for a better overall performance. The Jupiter is quite the performer in itself and now that the same motor is present in the Wego, the scooter’s performance will surely see a surge. It puts out a maximum power of 8 Bhp and a peak torque of 8 Nm. The disc brake variant gets a 220mm disc brake up front and the standard variant gets 130mm drum brakes up front and at the rear.
Talking about the cosmetic upgrade that comes along with the 2014 Wego, it gets new colour shades and all of them come with a dual tone colour scheme. The rear has been slightly redesigned and the tail lamp cluster has been tweaked slightly and it now is a LED unit which makes the scooter look better than the outgoing version. It also gets a digital speedometer. TVS has not increased the price of the scooter which is quite a good thing despite the fact that it has increased the level of equipment on offer on the scooter.
The 110cc Wego has been rated to deliver a fuel efficiency of 62 kmpl and it is quite the performer too. With its new ad campaign, TVS is aiming to position the scooter as a unisex one with an equal focus on men and women alike. The 11occ scooter segment is brimming with options and it gets difficult for a buyer to choose. Having differentiating factors helps a lot of we believe TVS has done a good job of updating the scooter.
