General Motors India has made changes to its SAIL range of cars to bring in the new Chevrolet SAIL sedan and hatchback. They have updated both the cars just before the festive season to lure buyers and regain the lost attention. The new Chevrolet SAIL hatchback is priced between Rs. 4.41 lakh and Rs. 6.81 lakh and the sedan is priced between Rs. 5.19 lakh and Rs. 7.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new cars come with refreshed interiors and minor changes to the exteriors.
On the outside you will find wheels which look different from the previous model, black B pillar and chrome highlights. It continues to carry its typical Chevrolet styling with the dual port grille up front and wide stance. Inside the car, they have added premium interiors that give it an upmarket feel. The illumination inside the new Chevrolet SAIL cars is Icy Blue which is really soothing and looks quite good as well. Now the cars have got new dual tone interiors blending black and beige. This really adds an upmarket feel to the already good cabin. It continues to impress in terms of cabin space and practicality. Not only has it got plenty of space for front seats but also for the passengers in rear seats, something that many players in this segment aren’t very good at. The new Chevrolet SAIL comes with a new 2 din music system with Bluetooth. It supports pairing with up to five devices. Apart from these changes, you will find some chrome inserts here and there.
Mechanically the new Chevrolet SAIL hatchback and sedan continue to be the same as expected. The petrol variant is powered by the 1.2 litre SMARTECH petrol engine. It generates a peak power of 84 PS at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 108.5 Nm @ 5000 rpm. It is quite efficient with a fuel economy figure of 18.2 kmpl. The diesel variants are powered by the popular 1.3 litre engine. It generates a peak power of 75 PS @ 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 190 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The new Chevrolet SAIL comes with the Complete care programme which cuts down on the maintenance costs of the car.
