VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), a 50-50 joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited has launched its completely new range of trucks in India today. The launched product portfolio also includes the Volvo FH which has been voted the “International Truck of the Year” in Europe. The other models include the the Volvo FM and the Volvo FMX and Volvo claims the entire product range is the most technologically advanced trucks currently in India proudly showcasing advancements in areas like productivity, fuel efficiency, safety to maximizing uptime, intelligent I-Shift automated gearbox technology optimized for tough and rugged mining operating conditions and Volvo’s unique Dynafleet telematics system which allows following up on fuel consumption over time. Volvo also facilitates in Driver Training services through Volvo Trucks Driver Training services which coach drivers to further improving their fuel saving skills
During the initial press event held at KTPO, Whitefield, Bangalore, Philippe Divry, President, Volvo India Private Ltd, and Senior Vice President of the Volvo Group said, “Volvo has invested more than US$3 billion and 14 million engineering hours in this project. And just to make perfectly sure of the outcome, we have tested the vehicles for 21 million kilometers. We are the undisputed leader of the premium truck segment in India, and this new range will keep moving the bar further in terms of productivity and efficiency for our customers.”
Volvo’s range of FMX and FM trucks include FMX range of Tippers and FM Rigid Trucks for special application e.g. Fire Tenders, Sky lifts, Boom Pumps, Concrete Mixers and the FM/FH range of Tractors in different configurations. The FM Tractor series has applications in petroleum & chemicals, bulk cargo, construction and ODC (over-dimension cargo) while the FH series is used in long-haulage ODC transport applications.
