As per a recent report KTM has imported two units of the Duke 390 Adventure into India. Codenamed as the KT22, the KTM Duke 390 Adventure units are supposedly brought for R&D purposes.
The import of the Duke 390 Adventure suggests that the Austrian bike maker could be contemplating to introduce the Adventure 390 variant in India in future, and is also chalking out on a plan for its localization. The KTM Duke 390 Adventure is expected to share its essential components with the other 390 cc motorcycle models from KTM, namely the Duke 390 and RC390.
If and when introduced in the Indian motorcycle market, the KTM Duke 390 Adventure is most likely to be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant in Pune.
Till now, there are no confirmations regarding the launch of the Duke 390 Adventure in India, and regarding this KTM said in a statement that, the company is always considering new developments and will not say no to anything. However, at present no such models are planned. However, the possibility of the Duke 390 Adventure’s Indian launch cannot be completely ruled out.
The KTM Duke 390 would have sturdy suspension for longer travel. The motorcycle is powered by a single cylinder 373.2 oil cooled fuel injected motor that powers the other 390 cc bikes – Duke 390 and RC390. However in the Adventure, the engine will be tweaked to offer better off-road performance. The bike will be equipped off-road specific tyres as well as disc brakes for both the front and rear tyres couple with ABS as standard to make it a complete quality package. It is also expected to get higher ground clearance and optional luggage carriers.
For the global markets, KTM presently offers 4 Adventure motorcycle models – 1050 Adventure, 1190 Adventure, 1190 Adventure R and the top of the line 1290 Super Adventure.
The KTM Duke 390 Adventure is expected to be tagged at around Rs. 2.5 lakhs and will be the first model in a completely unexplored segment in the Indian bike market.
