Hero thrilled the two wheeler market when it unveiled the Hero HX250R for the first time. No one was expecting Hero to come up with such an exciting product. Somehow Hero managed to keep the HX250R hidden from all of us. Now, after months of its unveiling the Hero HX250R has been caught on camera for the first time. The testing model was completely undisguised and it wasn’t hard to figure out which motorcycle it is.
It can be seen in the pictures which have surfaced, that the testing unit of the Hero HX250R carries a black-gray color scheme. Thankfully, the overall model, design and styling of the motorcycle remain unchanged from what we have seen during its unveiling. The red rear mono suspension stands out of the entire bike and looks sporty. It can also be seen that Hero will provide clip on handle bars on the HX250R. We can also see the big chiseled fuel tank which enhances the sporty character of the bike. The split seat arrangement is again a sporty touch and the seats look quite comfortable. The overall stance of the HX250R is sporty but we are expecting the riding position to be at middle level and not too aggressive. In the other picture it can be seen that the instrument cluster of the HX250R would be a analog-digital unit.
At the unveiling the HX250R grabbed a lot of attention because of its styling. It has twin headlamps with LED DRLs. The rear view mirrors are designed to suit the overall stylish package. The HX250R wears wider Pirelli tyres to offer good grip and they also add to the looks.
Hero HX250R is based on a tubular geodesic frame and its swingarm is tubular too. The foot pegs are made of aluminium. Hero has done quite some work to lose the extra pounds. The HX250R weighs around 136 kilos which is quite commendable for a quarter liter fully faired motorcycle. Talking about the engine, the Hero HX250R would be powered by a 249 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled motor that would produce around 31 bhp of max power. It would come coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. The HX250R is armed with petal disc brakes but an availability of ABS in the final model is still vague.
Hero has entered the quarter liter segment very late and now it has more competitors waiting. Hero HX250R has to be priced very aggressively to stand up as a good rival. We are expecting its price to be beyond Rs 1.5 lakhs. An exact figure is not confirmed yet. The launch of the HX250R should be expected within this financial year. Hero should finish up the testing phase and launch the bike soon. Its main rivals are Honda CBR250R, KTM Duke 200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
