German premium car manufacturer and the recently crowned world’s number 1 car brand, Volkswagen is preparing to launch a slew of new cars. Volkswagen India will also launch many new models in the country, which includes a new compact sedan based on the Polo premium hatchback, the new Passat, new Beetle and the next generation model of the Volkswagen Tiguan.
The all new Volkswagen Tiguan is slated to have its world premiere at the upcoming 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show that will be held next month. The next-gen Tiguan premium SUV will be hitting the Indian car market by the second half of next year.
As per the reports, the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan is built on the new MQB platform and it will be offered in several variants. This new platform will make the new Tiguan roomier than before, while its light weight construction will enable enhanced performance and fuel efficiency. The premium SUV’s wheelbase has been also increased slightly, and it has grown a bit bigger in all dimensions. The new Tiguan is expected to have a length of around 4.5 meters.
Apart from the next-gen Tiguan, Volkswagen will be also launching a larger 7-seater variant of the SUV named the Tiguan XL by 2017. The Volkswagen Tiguan XL is expected to have a length of around 4.75 meters and a larger wheelbase measuring around 2.79 meters.
The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol Tiguan will get a 1.4 liter and 2 liter TSI petrol engines offering 125 bhp and 220 bhp respectively, while the diesel version is expected to pack in the 1.6 liter and 2 liter TDI mills delivering around 120 bhp and 240 bhp, respectively. The top variants will have AWD option, while the lower variants will be offered only with 2WD system.
Reports say that the all new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV will offer a wide range of advanced safety features including collision avoidance radar system, lane departure warning, park assist, etc, apart from other features like advanced in-car internet navigation, head-up display, advanced smartphone connectivity, Android support and much more.
