Bajaj Auto, one of country’s largest two wheeler manufacturers, has announced a hike in the price of Pulsar AS 200. The bike was launched recently at an introductory price of Rs 91,550/- (Ex showroom, Delhi) and now it will cost Rs 93,552/- (Ex showroom, Delhi). Recently the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 also received a price hike. The price hike is only for the Pulsar AS 200 and not for the Pulsar AS 150. The latter one will be continued to sell at Rs 79,000/- (Ex showroom, Delhi).
Bajaj Auto launched the Pulsar AS 150 and the Pulsar AS 200 in the market and it has received an overwhelming response. The Pulsar RS 200 is also selling in good numbers. The AS series of Pulsar is targeted on a larger audience and people belonging to different tastes would like the bike. The elder sibling of the Pulsar AS 200 is the Pulsar 200 NS, the naked monster. It is still being sold at a price of Rs 91,553/- (Ex showroom, Delhi). It was the Pulsar 200 NS which brought in the much needed change in the company’s lineup.
The Bajaj Pulsar AS 200 is powered by a 199.5cc single cylinder motor which has been tuned to produce a max power of 23.5 BHP at 9500 RPM and puts out an impressive 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In order to keep the costs low, Bajaj skipped the fuel injection system on the Pulsar AS 200 and continued forward in the conventional carburetor method. The bike is designed with a more upright riding stance. Even after being around 8 kilos heavier than the Pulsar NS 200, the AS 200 wouldn’t disappoint you if you want to play dirty sometimes.
The hike in the price of the Pulsar AS 200 just ahead of the festive season would affect the sales of the motorcycle. The hike isn’t a big one but with a price sensitive market like ours every little thing counts. Let us hope that the Pulsar AS 200 continues to satisfy its customers.
