The year 2015 has been a wonderful year for the Indian automobile industry. Many new car models from various car manufacturers have been launched in India. These new models include very expensive cars and also very affordable cars. Now as the year 2015 is coming to an end we have made a list of the best cars to buy in India. Let’s get started.
1. Hyundai Creta
Hyundai Creta was launched earlier this year and it gathered a lot of attention. Well, it deserves it and it also deserves to be in this list of best cars to buy in India. Hyundai has done a great job with the Creta. The base model of the Creta is priced at Rs 8.69 lakhs (Ex showroom, Delhi) and the top end variant comes with a price tag of Rs 13.80 lakhs (Ex showroom, Delhi). The Creta looks fabulous and just like any other Hyundai car it offers plethora of features. The Creta is available in 3 engine options- a 1.6 liter petrol, a 1.4 liter diesel and a 1.6 liter diesel. All the engines are very refined and provide an amazing driving experience. Hyundai Creta also comes with an automatic gearbox but it isn’t available in the petrol trim. It only comes with the top end diesel variant. Overall, Hyundai Creta is among the best products which the Korean manufacturer has ever given to the Indian audience.
2. Mercedes Benz GLA
Mercedes Benz GLA is one of the striking looking cars that we have seen in 2015. It is a beautiful car and comes with all the bells and whistles which one expects from Mercedes Benz. The GLA comes with a 2.2 liter diesel engine which produces 134 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. There is also a 2.0 liter petrol engine which churns out 181 BHP of power and the same amount of torque. Both the engines come with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The ride quality of the GLA is tremendous and fun. Mercedes Benz is also providing an AMG variant of the GLA which is armed with a 2.0 liter petrol engine and spits out a whopping 355 BHP of power and 450 Nm of torque. The GLA 45 AMG also gets all the AMG features too. The GLA is priced in the bracket of Rs 31.90 lakh – Rs 36.90 lakh whereas the GLA 45 AMG will set you back by an enormous Rs 71.90 lakh (all prices are Ex showroom, Delhi).
3. Fiat Punto Abarth
The next spot in our list of best cars to buy in India is taken by the Fiat Punto Abarth. Fiat has recently launched the Punto Abarth in India at a price of Rs 9.95 lakh (Ex showroom, Delhi). This is a proper performance hot hatchback that we have in India. The car is powered by a 1.4 liter T-Jet engine which churns out a mind blowing 145 BHP of max power and 212 Nm of peak torque. Fiat has also reduced the ground clearance of the Punto Abarth to make it sportier. The interiors of the car has also been tweaked slightly to give that sporty feeling. The Punto Abarth looks amazing with the new color scheme and the 16 inch alloy wheels and to differentiate it from a normal Punto Fiat has put on the Abarth Logo at various spots. Overall the Punto Abarth is a car for people who likes to drive enthusiastically. The car has got immense power for its size and it can even do torque steer when you put your right foot flat on the floor. It is true that at this price one could buy a proper sedan with lots of features and similar power figures, but the Punto Abarth is not competing with them. It has made a place of its own which only the enthusiasts would fathom.
4. Renault Kwid
It was only the Renault Duster which was bringing in true revenues for the company. Therefore, the R&D team went into hibernation and worked extremely hard. And the product with which they came up with is truly staggering. Renault Kwid is the latest offering from the French automobile manufacturer and it has stirred the Indian automobile market. The Kwid is available in the market at a price of Rs 2.57 lakh for the base variant whereas the top end variant of the car is available at Rs 3.53 lakh (all price are Ex showroom, Delhi). Under its hood is an 800cc in-line three cylinder engine which makes 53 BHP of max power and 72 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car drives very well and is a perfect companion for city driving. Renault Kwid is undoubtedly the best looking car in its segment. Within a span of 30 days from its launch, over 50,000 Kwid’s have been booked and the waiting period has increased up to 6 months. Clearly the Kwid is being loved and desired by the masses and this would definitely has made the people at Maruti Suzuki a bit uneasy.
5. Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has been leading the Indian automobile market in most of the segments. This year the company has launched its latest offering called the Baleno. The name isn’t new but everything else is. The new Baleno has nothing in common with the one which the company launched years ago. In fact, this is the best car Maruti Suzuki has ever manufactured in terms of quality. The Baleno looks very young and mature. It is a good looking car and definitely much better than what we have seen in the past from the Maruti’s stable. The Baleno is available in a 1.2 liter petrol engine which churns out 83 BHP at 6000 RPM and 115 Nm at 4000 RPM. The other engine is a 1.3 liter diesel mill which gives 74 BHP of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also an automatic gearbox available but only with the 1.2 liter petrol unit. It means that if you wish to get the automatic variant then you will have to settle down for fewer features because it isn’t available with the top end variant. The interiors of the new Baleno are very new and feels premium. Maruti has tried to make the cabin as modern and practical as possible. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in the price bracket of Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 8.11 lakh (Ex showroom, Delhi).
