The year 2015 brought us some outstanding automobiles from a variety of manufacturers. From entry level hatchbacks to high performance and luxury sedans which costs a fortune, the domestic automobile market witnessed everything. Now, as it is time to say goodbye to 2015 and welcome another new year, let us have a look at the 2016 upcoming cars in India.
1. Tata Zica
Tata Motors have revealed its latest product for the Indian market. It is called the Zica and it is the first car in our list of 2016 upcoming cars in India. The car has been tested and reviewed by many but the company hasn’t launched it yet. It is being anticipated that the Zica will be launched during Jan 2016. Tata has drastically improved its products since they launched the Bolt and Zest and the Zica is no exception. The car has different and modern looks which is pleasing to the eye. The overall design of the Zica is very proportionate and the horizontal tail lamps are a refreshing addition. The interiors of the car are also premium and Tata has cleverly added a few new touches to enhance the overall feel, fit and finish.
In terms of engine and performance, the new Tata Zica will be available in two engine options. The main rival of the Zica would be the Maruti Celerio and the Zica is almost 150 kilos heavier that the Celerio. How this would impact on the performance and fuel efficiency of the car, time will tell. As of now Tata Motors has not revealed any fuel economy figures. We are expecting the Zica to be introduced in the range of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh (Ex showroom).
2. 2016 Toyota Innova
Toyota has been testing its new Innova on the Indian roads. The test mule has been spotted several times with complete disguise. The Innova has been in the Indian market for many years now and it is time Toyota brings in a new model. 2016 Toyota Innova will get many design changes to make it flow with the modern design taste. The new model would feature new projector headlamps, a pair of LED DRLs and a new front grille. The biggest change in terms of looks will be the rear end of the vehicle where Toyota has decided to ditch the vertical tail light arrangement and adopt a horizontal formation. Also the turn indicators at the rear have been placed below the tail lights which looks a bit weird. What makes it more odd is the over done large bumper.
The interiors of the 2016 Toyota Innova will also be changed and some new features will be added. The current generation of Innova is powered by a 2.5 liter diesel engine which produces 100 bhp of power. The new model is supposedly be run by an improved and more refined avatar of the same engine. As far as the price is concerned, the new Innova should be in the price bracket of Rs 10-15 lakhs and we can see it in showrooms by Feb-March.
3. Mahindra KUV100
Mahindra has finally lifted off the blinds from its codenamed vehicle the S101. Mahindra has been testing this for many months with a highly disguised test mule. After revealing how the KUV100 will look, it is only a matter of time when the company will launch the vehicle in India. According to Mahindra the new KUV100 is primarily designed for the youth of the country. They will love this modern generation vehicle. Also, people who are looking to buy their first car would also be interested in the new KUV100. Mahindra says that the letter ‘K’ in ‘KUV100’ stands for ‘Kool’. Mahindra has also unveiled its new mFALCON engine family and it says that the new KUV100 will be powered by one of the engines belonging to the mFALCON family of engines. Both petrol and diesel variants will be on offer. We’re expecting the company to launch the KUV100 in the beginning of 2016 and it is going to be one of the most anticipated 2106 upcoming cars in India.
4. Renault Duster Facelift
Renault Duster is definitely Renault’s highest selling product. The company is now looking for bringing in a new updated variant of the Duster. Just like any other facelift model, the new Duster will get a renovation in its exteriors. The headlamps would be revised, a new front grille is in works with some chrome finishing with the company’s logo sitting in the middle. The overall stance of the vehicle will be the same with slight modifications here and there. The rear tail lights will also be altered to make the car look more modern. The interiors of the upcoming model are expected to be mostly similar. The only things which we can expect to change are the instrument cluster, the seat upholstery and a few buttons. The engine options are remained to carry forward from the current model. As far as the prices are concerned the facelift model is anticipated to be a bit more expensive than the current one. Renault might launch the facelift Duster by the mid or end of 2016.
5. Ford Mustang
The number of super cars in India has grown tremendously in the past few years. There are various car makers who have launched their flagship models in the country because of the increasing trend. Ford Mustang always had a cult fan following across the globe. Its fans have increased in India as well and they’re waiting for the Americans to launch the Mustang here. Ford has finally decided to listen to their prayers. The all new Mustang was spotted in Mumbai earlier this year and we’re expecting it to hit showrooms somewhere in April 2016. The Mustang looks devilish and is a performer. It will be available in a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that spits out 400 BHP of power and 542 Nm of enormous twisting force. There will also be a tuned down model with a 2.3 liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine that has the power figures as 310 BHP and 320 Nm. Americans call this a toned down model. Right. We are very excited and desperately waiting for the Mustang to be launched here. It would carry a price tag of around Rs 40-60 lacs.
