The next generation model of the Hyundai Verna sedan has been caught sans camouflage in China prior to its world premiere. The South Korean car major had previewed the next generation model of the very popular Verna sedan as a concept model at the 2016 Beijing motor show in the month of April. Now, the production version of the sedan has been revealed prior to its global debut.
As per the spy pictures, the all new Hyundai Verna is going to look very close to its concept model. However, there are some alterations that always happen to the production versions of cars. Thus, the next-gen Verna’s production model flaunt slightly toned-down headlight cluster design, front grille, bumpers and wheels, although these look great.
The upcoming new generation Hyundai Verna sedan is obviously going to flaunt the South Korean car major’s latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The next-gen Verna’s front fascia also looks pretty similar to that of the sedan’s bigger sibling Elantra.
The all new Verna also adheres to the trend of growing larger than the predecessor. The new generation Hyundai Verna is longer and wider than its predecessor, while also sitting on a longer wheelbase. This means that the new upcoming model of the Verna will be offering better cabin space and comfort to the occupants and will provide a better legroom for the rear passengers as compared to the ongoing model of the sedan. The all new Verna, while growing in other dimensions, comes with a reduced height by 5 mm in order to look meaner, while this should not necessarily cause a dearth of headspace.
Two models of the next generation Hyundai Verna sedan have been revealed without any veils. One of these was most probably the base variant that was spotted being equipped with halogen headlamps, a front radiator grille with chrome surround and steel wheels. The second among these two must be the top of the range variant as it flaunted all the top-end features than can be expected from this sedan. This second model flaunted powerful projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, front grille finished in chrome, large stylish alloy wheels, fog lamps and a sunroof.
For the car market of China, the next generation Hyundai Verna sedan is expected to come with a 4 cylinder petrol mill option. However, for India Hyundai Motor is expected to carry forward the existing engine range of petrol and diesel units in the next generation Verna.
In the car market of India, the Hyundai Verna holds a very prominent position in the C-segment. The Verna was immensely popular and dominated the segment for quite some time before the current generation Honda City outshone it. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz’s appearance in the segment further damaged the very capable and popular Verna’s position in the segment.
The next-gen Hyundai Verna is certainly expected to boost the car’s sales considerably. Post its Indian launch it will go up against the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Fiat Linea and Skoda Rapid.
