At the ongoing 2016 Indonesia Auto Show, there’s an extravaganza of highly interesting car models. More interestingly, quite a few of these will also make their way to the Indian auto market. One of the most awaited upcoming launches in India from the products displayed at the 2016 Indonesia Auto Show is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT version.
Suzuki has recently displayed the diesel AMT model of the new Vitara Brezza mini SUV at the ongoing Indonesian auto event. And the one displayed at the event was manufactured in India. As is known the highly successful Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a product that has been fully conceptualized and developed in India by Maruti’s Indian team with little input from Japanese parent company, Suzuki. Thus, the Vitara Brezza AMT version is also definitely coming our way, and pretty soon. Owing to the very poor diesel market in Indonesia, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is unlikely to launch in that country and Suzuki confirmed the same to the media. However, there’s no such issues in India and as the Brezza is available here in only diesel version, the AMT version will be a welcome addition to the Brezza’s Indian lineup. The fact that an AMT version of the subcompact SUV has been produced and displayed at the event gives us the idea that the vehicle is undergoing tests and preparing to launch in India.
Under the hood, there are no changes in the Vitara Brezza AMT version. Apart from the Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox, the Brezza will continue to get powered by the same 1.3 liter Fiat sourced DDiS diesel motor. When paired with the 5 speed manual transmission, this 3-cylinder diesel mill generates a peak power of 89 bhp along with top torque of 200 Nm. Although major changes in the power figures are not expected with the AMT gearbox, but it is sure to make driving experience in the urban roads much easier.
As per some sources, Maruti Suzuki is currently looking to manufacture its own Automated Manual Transmission kits which will enable the company to make the AMT products even cheaper. However, Maruti Suzuki has made no confirmation on this and said that it is happy with the Italian Magneti Marelli supplied AMT system that is being used currently on all AMT car models from Maruti Suzuki.
In terms of design as well features also there will be no changes in the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT model. The ongoing list of exterior features of the car that include interesting stuff such as the projector headlights, LED guide lights, floating roof, underbody plastic cladding, faux skid plates and roof rails will continue which makes the Brezza unconventionally stunning looking. The same interior design will also continue with some great features such as all-black interior color scheme, elegant piano black finished centre console, touchscreen infotainment system, cooled glove box Apple CarPlay and Smart Connect support along with much more.
