Japanese car major, Honda Motor took the wraps off the new refreshed Brio hatchback model at the 2016 Indonesian Motor Show. In the Indian car market, the entry level Honda Brio hatchback is in dire need of a facelift, as the car’s sales haven’t been substantial for quite some time. Thus, Honda Cars India is said to be giving its Brio a long awaited refresh in order to restore some freshness to the brand and enhanced customer interest in the car.
As per the reports, the Japanese car major is most likely to introduce the new Honda Brio facelift to India sometime in the month of September this year, just prior to the onset of the festive season this year. All car makers offer something new or special during the festive season in India as it is the best time for sales boost, and Honda Cars India is no different. It is expected that during this year’s festive season as well, Honda will have an array of special edition models, schemes and discounts for its Indian customers. Among the special offerings from the house of Honda Cars India, the new refreshed Honda Brio is expected to be one attraction.
When the changes in the new Honda Brio facelift are concerned, the entry-level hatch features mild cosmetic changes which will carried on to the new 2016 Honda Brio model for the car market of India. The minor styling alterations are very similar to that of the Brio based Honda Amaze compact sedan’s new updated model. On the inside, the new refreshed Brio is most likely to get new and better upholstery and the dashboard borrowed from the updated Amaze for a more up-market appeal.
Apart from the mild cosmetic changes both on the outside and inside, no other changes are expected in the Honda Bio facelift. New, added features are not expected and all the under the hood mechanical bits are also expected to remain unchanged. The new 2016 Honda Brio will in all probabilities get powered by the same engine as that of the ongoing model. So, the same 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol motor is expected to the duty under the hood of the updated model. This petrol mill has the capability to generate a max power of 90 bhp and a peak torque of 109 Nm and gets paired to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. Honda India might however, offer a CVT gearbox option with the updated model.
It is thought that in order to boost sales for the Brio, Honda India might also consider making the new 2016 Brio model more cost effective to attract more buyers. The new refreshed Honda Brio is expected to hit the car market of India with a starting price range of around Rs. 5 lakhs. This would put the new Brio at par with its more popular hatchback rivals in the Indian market including the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Chevrolet Beat.
