Seems like Toyota India started preparing well ahead of its strong rival Hyundai Elantra’s new avatar came to India. While the new and all improved Hyundai Elantra has just been launched in the Indian car marker on 23rd of August, just ahead of its launch Toyota Kirloskar Motor India started offering buying benefits of up to Rs. 40,000 on its Toyota Corolla Altis premium sedan.
As per the reports, the benefits on the Toyota Corolla Altis include exchange bonus as well as other schemes. It is a usual practice of car makers to offers many attractive schemes, discounts and other benefits on their models just at the time of new rivals in the market, in order to get customer attention and boost their models’ sales. One recent example is Maruti Suzuki which had offered huge benefits and cash discounts of up to Rs. 85,000 on its massively popular Alto 800 entry level hatchback prior to the launch of the Datsun redi-Go in India.
When the Toyota Corolla Altis is concerned, the executive sedan model has been competing with the previous genration Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Octavia in the D-segment of India. Now, that Hyundai Motor India has launched the new 6th generation Elantra premium sedan in the car market of the country prior to the festive season of this year, the customer interest in this segment will definitely shift towards the new Elantra, and thus, the great scheme for the Corolla Altis by Toyota.
It is not an unknown fact that although Toyota Motor is a consistent world topper in terms of sales, the company’s presence in India is only lukewarm. Although the Japanese car major does enjoy the reverence that is akin to its brand name in the Indian car market as well, when sales are concerned the company could not make a huge mark apart from its segment toppers and bestselling models Innova and the Fortuner. While the recently launched new generation Toyota Innova Crysta premium MPV model is also a huge success in the country, the Indian Toyota car lovers are now waiting for the long pending launch of the new generation Toyota Fortuner premium SUV.
Coming back to the Corolla sedan, the Corolla is known as the Toyota Corolla Altis in the Indian market and the one available for sale in India is the latest 10th generation model, which is much bolder and debonair looking than the previous-gen model. The Toyota Corolla Altis sedan gets equipped with a 1.8 liter VVTi petrol motor and a 1.4 liter D-4 D diesel mill. The Corolla Altis powered by the VVTi petrol motor has the capability to offer a max power output of 138.1 bhp at 6400 rpm along with top torque of 173 Nm at 4000 rpm, the D4D diesel motor run Corolla Altis version is good to deliver a top power of 87.2 bhp at 3800 rpm along with 205 Nm of peak torque in the range of 1800 to 2800 rpm.
