Given the diesel ban scenario in the Delhi NCR, car majors are making massive changes in their business strategy in India despite their initial resistance to become flexible going with the apex court’s rule. Be it India’s own Mahindra & Mahindra or the Japanese car major Toyota Motor, all are slowly but surely going the petrol way in order to dodge the diesel ban in the country. German luxury car major Marcedes-Benz which had also threatened to reconsider its investment plans in India in the context of the large capacity diesel car ban, finally came around and later committed to launch the petrol versions of its diesel powered luxury cars, all of which have large capacity engines. In keeping with this decision, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the petrol version of its GLE SUV in India tagged at Rs. 74.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC petrol is the seventh product launch from the house of Marcedes-Benz in the calendar year of 2016 out of the promised total of twelve launches. Marcedes-Benz India has also confirmed that it is planning to launch all the planned products for this year by September, which means prior to this year’s festive season.

This SUV’s petrol version has come to India for the first time in the form of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400. The Mercedes-Benz GLE is the best selling SUV model from the company in India. The Mercedes-Benz GLE challenges the likes of Audi Q5 and BMW X5, while it will soon also rival the new upcoming Jaguar F-Pace, once it launches in the car market of India.
The newly launched Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC petrol variant’s addition in the GLE lineup takes the total number of model trims of the luxury SUV to four, all the other three being diesel variants.
