Toyota Kirloskar Motor India is considering launching three new car models in the domestic car market of the country in the 2016-17 fiscal. These three launches include the new generation Fortuner premium, Vios sedan and Rush compact SUV.
Let us take the look at this upcoming Toyota trio:
- All new Toyota Fortuner
The long awaited new generation Toyota Fortuner is finally expected to launch in India by the end of this year or early next year. The premium SUV flaunts an all new design language and fully revamped interiors. The new-gen Fortuner is based on lighter, stringer and safer platform than the preceding model. This all-new platform is based on Toyota’s Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism (FIRM) philosophy.
The new Fortuner looks very dashing and highly alluring with a sleek styling with its highly stylized design elements. It will come powered with two new diesel motor choice – 2.4L GD diesel unit offering 160 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque and 2.8L GD diesel mill delivering 177 bhp and 450 Nm. The engines will get mated to a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic transmission choice, while AWD system option will be offered only on the range topping model.
The all new Toyota Fortuner is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 22 – 28 lakhs.
- Toyota Vios
To participate in the hot Indian segment of the premium mid-sized sedans, the Japanese car major plans to bring in the internationally popular Toyota Vios. The Vios has got spied testing in the Indian roads quite a few times. Toyota India’s idea is to challenge the likes of the current segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.
The Vios will come in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol model will get equipped with a 1.5L VVT-i mill generating 107.5 bhp of power and 141 Nm of torque, while the diesel avatar gets a 1.4L D4-D motor offering 87 bhp and 220 Nm. Transmission duty is taken care of by a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed automatic transmission option.
The Vios is likely to come to India by mid-2017 tagged in the range of around Rs. 7 – 10 lakhs.
- Toyota Rush
Toyota wishes to cash on the compact SUV market which is the fastest growing passenger car segment in India right now. Toyota’s planned contender for this hot segment of baby SUVs is the Rush.
The Rush compact SUV has been speculated to come to India for quite some time now, and is now finally expected to come by mid-2017 or by the end of the same year.
The Rush will get equipped with a 1.4 liter D-4D diesel mill that delivers 67 bhp and 170 Nm and comes paired to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
Post its launch in India, the Rush compact SUV will lock its horns with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the likes, and is likely to be tagged in the range of Rs. 10 – 15 lakhs.
