Toyota Alphard Luxury MPV Likely To Launch In India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor had announced sometime back that the company will be focusing on the premium segments of India. In keeping with this strategy, recent reports say that the Japanese car major is considering the feasibility of launching the Toyota Alphard luxury MPV in the Indian market.

The Toyota Alphard is a high-end full-sized MPV model which comes with a seating capacity of 8 occupants and is a thoroughly luxurious vehicle. Although the Indian MPV market is not so hot, considering the iconic status of the Toyota Innova and the high demands for the new Innova Crysta, the Japanese car maker may very well considering bringing in this luxurious MPV to take the luxury quotient much higher.

Moreover, the Toyota Alphard luxury MPV also comes in a hybrid version, and Toyota which is considering launching more hybrid cars in India to strengthen its positioning in the country could bring just the hybrid model of the Alphard.

The Toyota Alphard luxury MPV is powered by the same 2.5L petrol hybrid powertrain that drives the Toyota Camry hybrid which is the bestselling hybrid model in India. The The 2.5L 2AR-FXE hybrid mill is paired to a sophisticated 6 speed automatic transmission.

It is large MPV with abundant interior space, good ground clearance and great driving dynamics owing to an electric 4-wheel drive system.

If and when it launches in India, the Toyota Alphard luxury MPV will be an expensive model with an estimated price of around Rs. 50 lakhs. However, it will come with top-notch style and all bells and whistles apart from a hybrid powertrain to justify its price tag.
